History & design
The Lawo Sapphire is a fully modular, configurable on-air radio mixing console. It is built from four-fader modules and central modules, to which extensions can be added (rotary encoders, freely assignable button panels). It takes up to 60 motorised faders with dust shields, and multi-layer operation brings the total to 120 virtual faders.
For processing and routing, the Sapphire offers 768 x 768 crosspoints, 128 assignable DSP modules and 80 mono summing buses; up to 80 mono sources can be connected at once, with each mono, stereo or 5.1 source assignable to a single fader. It is RAVENNA / AES67 and SMPTE ST2110 compatible. Faders can be integrated into the desk or placed on separate islands, letting several presenters work while on air. It comes in desktop or flush-mount versions.
