History & design
The crystal is a compact, modular radio on-air console from Lawo. Built for on-air studios and radio production, it offers 6, 8 or 14 fader configurations and a central control/monitoring section, with the usual live-radio functions (ON/PFL buttons, telephone/ISDN handling, external sources).
The new crystal, unveiled in October 2023, reworks the concept in a fully IP architecture: Lawo Power Core engine, 100 mm motorised touch-sensitive faders, RAVENNA/AES67 networking compliant with SMPTE ST2110-30/-31 (and ST2022-7 for redundancy), with expandable I/O covering AES67, MADI, AES3, Dante and analogue. The crystal targets stations that want the Lawo ecosystem in a small footprint.
