Our take
History & design
The Zeta is the compact model in Calrec's digital broadcast range, aimed at OB trucks and small TV control rooms. It shares the architecture and buss structure of its larger Alpha and Sigma siblings: 20 auxiliaries, 48 multitrack outputs and full 5.1 handling.
Its turning point is the Bluefin DSP, which lifts capacity from 108 to 160 processing paths (48 stereo + 64 mono) and allows EQ and dynamics on every channel, up to 78 full 5.1 channels and 19.6 minutes of delay. Bluefin is the first FPGA implementation to pack a whole console's processing onto a single card.
