History & design
The Avid VENUE SC48 is an all-in-one live digital mixing console, launched around 2009. Unlike the modular VENUE desks (D-Show), it packs I/O, DSP and control surface into a single chassis. It offers 48 mic/line XLR inputs, 16 outputs (expandable to 32), 16 auxes, 8 groups, 8 mono matrices (up to 4 stereo) and 24 mix buses, with mains configurable as L-R+Mono or LCR. The surface carries 26 touch-sensitive motorised faders.
Its signature feature is Pro Tools integration: an onboard Pro Tools LE FireWire interface records and plays back up to 32 tracks, with the software included. The SC48 runs the VENUE environment and accepts AAX/TDM plug-ins, tying it directly into Avid's production ecosystem. Expandable via a remote Stage 48 rack, it targets venues and tours after the VENUE workflow without a D-Show's footprint.
