Fostex
Fostex is a Japanese brand founded in 1973 as the pro/semi-pro division of Foster Electric (a loudspeaker maker established in 1949). Fostex built its name on affordable multitrack tape machines (Portastudio-style units, the R8, the Model 80) and then on pioneering hard-disk recorders in the 1990s. The brand is still active today (monitoring, headphones, field recorders).
