History & design
The DiGiCo S31 is a compact 48-flexi-channel digital console (up to 60 depending on configuration) feeding the equivalent of 16 buses. Its surface carries three 10-inch multi-touch screens above three banks of ten faders — thirty channels visible at once; a drag/swipe/drop function lets you freely arrange channels and buses.
Processing runs on an FPGA core in parallel with an ARM QuadCore RISC processor, delivering the same 96 kHz audio as the SD-Range. The rear offers 24 mic/line inputs, 12 analog outputs and a USB MADI interface for direct DAW recording; two DMI slots handle expansion (Dante, Waves SoundGrid, MADI, AES…). A virtual rack provides dynamic EQs, DiGiTube tube emulation, multiband compressors, multi-effects and graphic EQs.
