Our take
History & design
The CQ-12T is the smallest digital mixer in Allen & Heath's CQ series, launched in 2024, in an ultra-compact 12-in / 8-out format. It inherits a 96 kHz FPGA engine derived from the brand's recent live consoles.
On the input side it offers 10 mic/line inputs (5 XLR, 5 XLR/TRS combo) and a stereo TRS line pair. Output relies on 6 TRS outputs configurable as mono or stereo, a main XLR output and an assignable TRS headphone output. The interface sits on a 7″ touchscreen with two per-channel modes: Quick Channels (single-knob guided processing) and Complete Channels (in-depth editing).
The CQ-12T features the Gain Assistant, which automatically sets and monitors gain, and the Feedback Assistant, which hunts feedback with up to 16 filters per output. It carries 2 FX engines, a 16×16 USB-B interface (48/96 kHz), 16×16 SD record/playback and Bluetooth playback. It targets home studio, streaming, rehearsal, small gigs and speech applications.
