Fairlight
Fairlight Instruments Pty Ltd was founded in December 1975 in Sydney by Kim Ryrie and Peter Vogel. The brand became legendary with the Fairlight CMI (1979), one of the first digital samplers. After the company went bankrupt in late 1988, Vogel and Ryrie founded a new company in April 1989, Fairlight ESP (Electric Sound and Picture), dedicated exclusively to the post-production market. Kim Ryrie remained its main shareholder, president and product manager.
Fairlight was later acquired by Blackmagic Design in 2016; the 'Fairlight' audio technology now lives on within DaVinci Resolve.
