Digidesign ProControl

Digidesign's first large-format Pro Tools control surface

List price at launch 11,995 USD as of 1998

Description

In 1998 the ProControl gave Pro Tools a proper motorised-fader surface: eight channels on the main unit, expandable in blocks of eight up to thirty-two, all linked to the computer by a single Ethernet cable. Touch-sensitive, modular, with control-room monitoring and a surround option, it brought hands-on mixing reflexes to the Pro Tools world and paved the way for the ICON systems.
