Our take
History & design
The DiGiCo Quantum852 is the flagship of the Quantum range, unveiled at the end of 2022. It is a dual-engine, 384-channel digital mixing console: each engine carries five 7th-generation FPGAs backed by a next-generation SHARC system, enabling massive processing (Nodal Processing, Mustard Processing, Spice Rack emulations and the rest of the Quantum ecosystem).
The surface offers 52 touch-sensitive motorised faders (40 × 100 mm long-throw and 12 × 60 mm) and three 21.3" 1000-nit touchscreens designed for daylight operation. On the mixing side: 192 Aux/Sub-Group busses, LR/LCR/5.1 masters, a 64×64 processing matrix, 36 control groups, 64 FX Rack slots and 48 graphic EQs.
Connectivity is built on a standard Optocore fibre loop (504 channels, up to 14 racks) and four DMI slots (two per engine, 64×64 I/O each) that host DiGiCo interface cards (MADI, Dante, etc.). The Quantum852 targets the largest live productions and festivals.
