A collaboration between SSL and sonible around AI‑driven audio
Solid State Logic has teamed up with sonible to launch a new family of plugins that combine modelling of the legendary SSL 4000 E consoles with sonible’s AI‑assisted audio analysis. This range, called autoSeries, is made up of three processors: autoEQ, autoDYN and autoBUS.
These plugins are the only official tools derived from the SSL 4000 series to directly integrate the AI capabilities developed by sonible.
The autoSeries range: three AI‑centred plugins
The three processors in the autoSeries range are built on the same principle: analysing the signal in real time in order to suggest settings tailored to the audio content. The AI examines both the frequency spectrum and the dynamic behaviour of the signal to generate processing profiles adjusted to the style of the source.
The suggested parameters remain fully editable, allowing you to lean on automatic analysis as a starting point while still keeping complete control over the final result.
autoEQ: EQ inspired by the SSL 4K E
autoEQ captures the sonic character of the famous SSL 4K E channel strip. According to Solid State Logic, this sound played a key role in shaping records by artists such as Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Kate Bush, U2, Metallica and many more.
In this version, that classic tone is combined with intelligent analysis to deliver EQ curves that are automatically adapted to the incoming signal, while preserving the distinctive aesthetic of the 4K E consoles.

autoDYN: 4K E‑style dynamics processing
The second member of the range, autoDYN, is based on the dynamics section of the SSL 4K E consoles: the channel compressor/limiter together with the gate/expander. The plugin aims for characterful processing, from punchy compression to fast, musical gating, as well as other dynamics configurations made possible by this module.
AI‑guided analysis helps dial in these processes, taking into account how the signal evolves over time to suggest parameters that make sense for the source.

autoBUS: the spirit of the 4000 G Bus Compressor
The final plugin in the series, autoBUS, is built around the concept of the iconic Bus Compressor from the SSL 4000 G console. This highly sought‑after bus compressor has been embraced by countless engineers and producers, including Tom Lord‑Alge, Bob Rock and MixedByAli, and used on productions by artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Pink Floyd, Nirvana and Massive Attack.
In autoBUS, this bus compression philosophy is combined with intelligent analysis to automatically adapt the compressor’s behaviour to the signal being processed, while maintaining the character associated with this well‑known mixing workhorse.

AI‑assisted analysis: a source‑focused workflow
On every plugin in the autoSeries family, the AI engine scrutinises the spectral and dynamic characteristics of the audio signal. From this data, it generates processing profiles and style‑appropriate settings, which users can then fine‑tune by hand.
The aim is to streamline the initial setup phase so you can focus more quickly on creative decisions and musical results, while still benefiting from the sonic heritage of the SSL 4000 consoles.

SSL and sonible share their vision of the partnership
Enrique Perez, Managing Director and Chief Technology Officer at Solid State Logic, explains that the company has always aimed to provide recording and production tools that help users broaden their capabilities and focus on creativity. He points out that integrating sonible’s AI‑based audio analysis engine complements SSL’s classic processing and gives users more freedom to achieve that goal.
On sonible’s side, Chief Marketing Officer Alex Wankhammer notes that the company has been working on AI‑assisted audio processing for more than ten years. He sees this first collaboration with Solid State Logic as a clear example of how new machine‑learning tools can be combined with traditional processing techniques to offer something genuinely distinctive.
autoSeries pricing and availability
The autoSeries plugins are available now. Each processor can be purchased individually as a perpetual licence at an introductory price of $49 / £39 / €49 (excluding VAT), valid until 26 January.
The range is also available as part of the Complete Access subscription.
FAQ
What are the three plugins in the autoSeries range?
The autoSeries family consists of three plugins: autoEQ, autoDYN and autoBUS. Each one takes a key element from the SSL 4000 universe (EQ, channel dynamics and bus compressor) and combines it with sonible’s AI‑assisted audio analysis.
Which SSL console models are these plugins based on?
autoEQ and autoDYN are inspired by the channel strip and dynamics section of the SSL 4K E consoles respectively, while autoBUS is built around the Bus Compressor concept from the SSL 4000 G console.
How is artificial intelligence used in these plugins?
The AI analyses the spectrum and dynamics of the audio signal to suggest processing profiles and style‑appropriate settings tailored to the source. These suggestions are fully editable, leaving the user with final control over the sound.
What is the introductory price of the autoSeries plugins and how long does it run for?
Each autoSeries plugin is available as a perpetual licence at an introductory price of $49, £39 or €49 (excluding VAT). This promotional offer runs until 26 January, and the plugins are also available via the Complete Access subscription.
